This three part series will cover the unique needs of parents delivering and caring for multiples. Expectant parents may invite extended family members to attend any of the classes.
Class #1 will be led by a Childbirth Educator. Topics covered: late pregnancy concerns, labor and delivery, Cesarean section, and immediate postpartum care.
Class #2 will be led by an Prenatal Educator and will include a tour of Hartford Hospital's Childbirth Center. Topics covered: identifying support systems available, how to take care of your newborns (sleeping, crying, bathing, recognizing illness, injury prevention), and sibling adjustment.
Class #3 will be led by a Nurse/Lactation Consultant/Parent of multiples and will include a tour of the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at CCMC. Topics covered: breastfeeding and formula feeding multiples, postpartum adjustment, and managing multiples at home.
