Marc D. Eisen, MD, PhD, did his medical school training at the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia, where he also earned his doctorate in neuroscience studying auditory hair cells.  He remained at the University of Pennsylvania for his residency in Otorhinolaryngology.  He completed a fellowship in neurotology at Johns Hopkins in Baltimore, Maryland.

He is currently the director of the Center for Hearing and Balance at Hartford Hospital and he is a clinical faculty member of the University of Connecticut.  He has done research in hair cell physiology, cochlear implants, superior semicircular canal dehiscence, and the history of otology.  He has written numerous book chapters and papers in peer-reviewed journals, presentated at national meetings, and serves as an editor for several journals.  The scope of his clinical practice includes medical and surgical treatment of the entire spectrum of diseases of hearing and balance in both children and adults.
