For Physicians:

We anticipate the opening ofour Radiation Oncology office for patient care at The Gray Cancer Center -Avon on July 28. If you have patients appropriate for treatment at that site and would like to expedite their care, Dr. Ken Leopold, our primary Avon Radiation Oncologist, will be available to see them for consultation irrunediately and at any time. Dr. Helaine Bertsch will also care for treatment patients at this facility.

The Gray Cancer Center -Avon is equipped to provide state-of-the-art Radiation Oncology services for nearly all situations requiring external beam radiation therapy. The Center has a Varian Clinac iX linear accelerator. This machine produces photons at two energies as well as supplying a full range o felectron energies and intensity modulated radiation therapy (IMRT).

It is equipped with on-board imaging, allowing patient positioning to be checked at the time of daily treatment (so-called "image-guided" radiation therapy-lOR1). A Toshiba wide-bore CT scanner is on site to provide state-of•the-art imaging with optimal immobilization for radiation treatment planning. Intensity modulated radiation therapy (lMRT) and conventional treatment planning will be accomplished using the cutting-edge Eclipse planning system.

For the less common situations where brachytherapy or stercotactic radiation therapy services are required, patients will receive that portion oftheir care at our downtown location.

The Avon Cancer Center is located in Avon Park North, at 80 Fisher Drive just off Route 10, less than a mile north of Route 44. The entry of Fisher Drive is across the street from the Avon Wellness Center, which also houses a Jefferson Radiology office and a CLP phlebotomy office.
