Hartford Hospital’s Melanoma & Skin Cancer Program brings together experts across many disciplines to treat both early and advanced melanoma and skin cancers.
As part of the region’s largest Cancer Center, the program identifies, treats, and counsels patients at high risk for melanoma and skin cancer. With the alarming rise in melanoma and skin cancer incidence today, our integrated approach to cancer treatment offers patients optimal care and leading-edge research that’s convenient and accessible.
Patients are treated by a dedicated group of dermatologists, surgical oncologists, Mohs surgeons, reconstructive surgeons, radiation oncologists and medical oncologists. A dermatopathologist brings expertise in the pathologic diagnosis of melanoma and skin cancer. Expert radiologists and nuclear medicine physicians offer patients state-of-the-art techniques in imaging and sentinel node identification for the best surgical results.
As part of the Helen & Harry Gray Cancer Center, the Melanoma and Skin Cancer Program has a multidisciplinary tumor board to determine the most effective treatment options for patients. The latest clinical trials in chemotherapy, targeted therapies and immunotherapy are available. Patients are also offered genetic counseling as well as high-risk screening to safeguard their health and that of their family. A nurse navigator coordinates care, ensuring that patients receive any support services they need.
Patients can be seen by a physician within one week. This program is open to referrals from all physicians, as well as patients. To make an appointment, call (860) 972-SKIN (7546).
