The goal of the two-year General Vascular SurgeryFellowship program is to produce clinically excellent physicians
who are equipped to diagnose and treat the entire spectrum of
vascular disease.
The fellowship involves clinical experience at the University
of Connecticut Health Center and Hartford Hospital. Each
facility offers a balanced exposure to open and endovascular
surgery. The program philosophy is the emphasize each of
these facets equally in order to avoid any training
deficiencies. Furthermore, the Vascular Laboratory at Hartford Hospital is an ICAVL
accredited facility which performs more then 8000 diagnostic
tests annually on the venous, peripheral arterial, and cerebral
systems. Thus, the fellow has sufficient non-invasive volume to
qualify for RPVI certification. Clinical research is a mandated component of this
program.
