The Infectious Diseases Residency is a PGY II experience with a focus on antimicrobial stewardship; however there is ample opportunity to work along side infectious diseases, transplant, and critical care physicians. The residency takes place at Hartford Hospital an 800+ bed tertiary health care center with five ICUs and a solid organ transplant service. Other areas of specialty include a robust cystic fibrosis and HIV patient population with adjoining clinics that the resident will round through. There is ample didactic teaching and precepting opportunities affiliated with the University of Connecticut. The hospital is also home to Hartford Hospital’s Center for Anti-Infective Research and Development which has a long and rich history of pharmacokinetic and pharmacodynamic research that the resident will participate in as well.
