Dr. Zweibel oversees the Hospital’s Electrophysiology Department and treats patients with complex electrical heart disorders, such as an irregular heart beat. He has conducted extensive research on complex electrical heart disorders. Most recently, he was involved in a study examining different methods of how cardiac defibrillators stop fatal heart rhythms. He is board certified in Clinical Cardiac Electrophysiology and Cardiovascular Disease with the American Board of Internal Medicine. In 2003, he received the highest physician score worldwide on the North American Society of Pacing and Electrophysiology’s certification exam, now known as the International Board of Heart Rhythm Examiners exam. Prior to joining the Hartford Hospital Medical Staff, Dr. Zweibel was with Lenox Hill Hospital in New York and was the Director of Electrophysiology at Sound Shore Medical Center in New Rochelle, NY.
