What types of activities are available at Cedar Mountain Commons? Is participation required?
Each day there are many activities from which to choose. You can enjoy a card game with neighbors, express your creativity through art, or enjoy a variety of different entertainers scheduled to perform specifically for our community. Maybe you prefer to socialize in the Club Room, visit with family in the Living Room or read a book in the Library. For those who like to stay active, we have a Fitness Room and exercise program. We even have a Wii bowling league. Whether you prefer to be social or private, the activities you participate in are completely up to you!
If I choose to move into Cedar Mountain Commons I will be downsizing. Can you provide any information to help with this transition?
Downsizing can be very overwhelming, but it doesn’t have to be! We encourage you to bring your own furniture to your new apartment so you can live with many of the pieces you’re accustomed to. We have floor plans available, and can help you to measure the space to find out what fits best in your new setting, and what might not. We can even suggest local moving companies that are familiar with our layout, and who specialize in downsizing to help make this transition a little bit easier.
Unfortunately, we cannot provide any additional storage space outside of your apartment.
May residents bring their cars to Cedar Mountain Commons when they move in?
As long as a valid driver’s license is maintained, residents are welcome to have a car at Cedar Mountain Commons. However, scheduled transportation is provided so many residents do not feel the need to have their own vehicle.
What happens if I experience a medical emergency in my apartment?
All residents are provided with emergency call pendants that are monitored 24 hour per day. By pressing the button on your pendant, or by pulling the emergency cord in your bathroom, staff will respond to your request for immediate assistance. (The initial pendant is offered at no charge; replacements are provided for a fee.)
Are residents required to use only Jefferson House/Hartford Hospital services?
Residents of Cedar Mountain Commons are free to choose the hospital/physician(s) they prefer. Many of the residents do, however, utilize the services of Hartford Hospital and its doctors, and are comforted by its quality of care. Residents of Cedar Mountain Commons are also granted priority access to Jefferson House, should they ever require their services.
