This is not your grandmother’s Auxiliary!
Our board of directors, elected officers and members come from all walks of life – full time working women, stay at home moms, retired executives, young professionals, hospital employees, long time residents and people new to the area. We have one goal in mind - to make a difference in the community by supporting the values of Caring, Safety, Excellence and Integrity at Hartford Hospital. We have accomplished a lot over the years! Through fundraising events we support special projects and provide gifts to the Hartford Hospital community totaling several hundred thousand dollars each year. If you want to make a difference come check us out!
Founded in 1921, the Hartford Hospital Auxiliary started its rich history by making bandages, clothing and other items needed by the hospital. During WWII many auxiliary members volunteered their time as nurse’s aides. This allowed the administration to keep open an additional third of the hospital.
Fast forward to 2014 - our self-governing organization provides services to all aspects of Hartford Hospital. We report to the Hospital's administration and work along side the hospital staff to provide volunteers and monetary support. The funds raised through our events support necessary equipment and training that ultimately help provide the best patient care. Additionally our efforts fund scholarships for volunteers, employees and their children and many other annual commitments. If this sound like the type of organization you would like to explore. Annual Benefit Golf Tournament
Record-breaking 2014 Golf Tournament!
The 25th Annual Hartford Hospital Auxiliary Golf Tournament was a tremendous success. Not only did we celebrate 25 years of hosting this popular event, but we also had another record- breaking and sold out tournament, with Hartford Hospital's Women's Health as the title sponsor. Due to the generosity of our sponsors, we raised a record-breaking $390,000 for Hartford Hospital, $150,000 of which we donated toward facility enhancements for the Maternity and Infant Observation Unit, the title beneficiary, as Hartford Hospital embraces its mission of being “Baby Friendly.” Our donation will help fund a new maternity room design, allowing for special lighting and design elements that help promote infant/mother bonding, increase the success rate of breastfeeding, and encourage involvement from the new mother's partner. These enhancements will improve the hospital experience for mother, baby and family, and meet the high quality of care and safety standards of Hartford Hospital. The remaining tournament proceeds will be used to support various programs and projects throughout Hartford Hospital.
Nearly 50 people from the Auxiliary Board, Hartford Hospital (including many Women’s Health employees), and friends of Hartford Hospital volunteered to make this tournament the most successful to date. We are very excited as we begin preparations for the 26th Annual Hartford Hospital Auxiliary Benefit Golf Tournament.
This year’s tournament will take place on September 21, 2015 at Tumble Brook Country Club in Bloomfield, CT. We are proud to support the Brownstone Clinic as our beneficiary.
If you are interested in sponsoring the tournament, donating items or services to our auction and raffle, or volunteering on the day of the tournament, please contact:

The Auxiliary contributes $50,000 annually to the Program, which awards a total of $70,000 annually in scholarships. Applicants are scored based on GPA, parents' years of service at Hartford Hospital, and personal essays. Applicants who are in the first generation of their families to attend college are eligible for an extra point in the scoring process. The first place winner receives $5,000, the second and third place winners receive $2500 each, and 60 additional winners receive $1,000 each.
It is with great pleasure that we announce the First Place winner for 2014, Jennifer LaPier. Ms. LaPier attends Georgetown University where she is majoring in Human Science with a minor in Public Health. In addition to her studies at Georgetown, Ms. LaPier has been training to become an EMT. She is also very active on campus working in the French department and volunteering with a board that plans low cost events for students.
The second and third place winners are Anthony Blake and Jessica Repicky. Mr. Blake intends to major in Human Rights at The University of Connecticut. He is the founder of the "Get it Right Foundation" which helps people in Ghana access safe drinking water.
